*Fagan went 3-for-6 with a double and a homerun in two games at the FHSAA Softball Finals as the Tigers (31-1) captured the Class 4A state championship and the mythical national championship.  The sophomore scored the game-tying run against Jensen Beach in the state semifinals, followed by a solo homerun in the bottom of the sixth inning for a 3-2 win.

 BOLLES (JAX.) BEGINS SEASON WHERE IT LEFT OFF

GAINESVILLE, FL - The Bolles (Jacksonville) Bulldogs will begin the 2010 season where it left off in the Prep Zone Power Poll - on top.

 

The 'Dogs, two-time defending state champions, finished 12-1 last year, including a win against Tampa Catholic to win the Class 2B state championship.  Bolles, which leads the state with 10 state titles, received four of five first place votes in the preseason poll.

 

The Prep Zone Power Poll ranks the top 15 high school football, basketball and baseball teams (regardless of classification) across 18 counties in north Florida (Alachua, Baker, Bradford, Clay, Columbia, Dixie, Duval, Flagler, Gilchrist, Hamilton, Lafayette, Levy, Marion, Nassau, Putnam, St. Johns, Suwannee & Union counties).  It is voted on weekly by sportswriters and sportscasters.

 

St. Augustine is ranked second.  The Yellow Jackets, who also finished 12-1 last year, is ranked fourth in the state in the Class 4A poll.  Trinity Christian (Jacksonville), last year's 1B state runners-up, is ranked third, followed by Gainesville and North Marion (Citra). 

 

Trinity Catholic (Ocala) is ranked sixth, while Fleming Island (Orange Park), Orange Park, Hawthorne and Columbia (Lake City) round out the top 10.

 

There are some big match-ups in week one as #2 St. Augustine hosts #5 North Marion, #4 Gainesville travels to #6 Trinity Catholic (Ocala) and #14 Clay (Green Cove Springs) is at #7 Fleming Island (Orange Park).
